You have downloaded 700 megs of RARS, but some of them were corrupt. Being knowledgeable you used PAR or PAR2 or REVs to fix them. You extracted a BIN but there is no CUE! You remember that a CUE is text and you have downloaded CDMage from the WarezFAQ. You look into the BIN with it and determine the structure. You read the help-file in CDRWin which walks you through creating your own CUE and you create one for the BIN. You do everything right and have a perfect CUE. You load up Alcohol 120% and burn the image to disc. You look at the disc and it's blank-- burned, but nothing is on it. What did you do wrong?—Probably nothing, but try these steps:
Look into the image-file with CDMage/WinISO, etc., or 'mount' the image with Alcohol or some other virtual disc program to see if it has a normal directory structure, or if it is a standard-format video or audio disc. If you look into it and it is blank, when you burn the image the disc will be blank. If you see a normal structure, appropriate to the end-type of disc you want to burn, then check the settings for image-writing in your burning program and try again. If it still fails to burn properly and it is a ISO-type disc (a single track with directories and files, no audio tracks,) extract the structure onto your hard disk and burn it directly. If it still fails to burn properly, there's something wrong with either the blanks, your burner or your software; probably the settings for the burner or the software. Go over the settings again very carefully. If all appears correct and you can burn or have burned other images/file structures previously, then try to burn something else. Something may have gone wrong in the interim between your last burn and this image. Good luck, and happy burning!
